SIGN 8: The "Armewater"
This pond is called the Armewater. In the past, there was land here that belonged to “the poor of Roelofarendsveen.” They did not have money to maintain the banks; the peat crumbled away. The Poor Land became Armewater, where ’the rich’ now live.
